It lent a bit of perspective over anything from spilled milk to a car crash - really! STOP: Stop, Think, Organize, Proceed. Soothe the child, let the child explain if age appropriate, and let the child suggest a solution. Milk is on the floor. It needs to be cleaned up. What's needed? sponge? paper towel? Who will help? The child is the most important element. Not the milk. Not the floor.
